Keystone Aquatics Center Purchase

On October 31, 2024, township supervisors entered into a sales agreement with Savco, LLC for the proposed purchase of the Keystone Aquatic Center.  Time was of the essence to lock in the agreed upon price of $1.75 million.  The agreement does not include the field house also on this site.  It does, however include provisions for use of the parking available at the field house.

The agreement includes many provisions to protect the township interests in a 90 day due diligence period. Investigations during this period include: code reviews, structural and mechanical analyses, tests, and inquiries on, of, and with respect to the Aquatic Center. The agreement also importantly involves the township obtaining an appraisal.  Should the appraisal exceed the $1.75 million, the agreed upon $1.75 million will still apply.  If the appraisal is less than the agreed upon $1.75 million, the seller can agree to the lower price or the township may elect to terminate the agreement.

Other resolutions passed in conjunction with the sales agreement provide for reimbursement of project costs and a request for price for financing.

Currently the high school is reviewing repairs and upgrades to its existing pool which will make it unavailable for some period.  The school district is also very much concerned with security on school property which makes public access difficult to schedule and limited.

The Boiling Springs Pool is private and limited to the summer months.

The Township planned community center on Petersburg is moving forward and recently was awarded $800,000 in grants for that project. A study was done to determine installing a pool there and was estimated at $7.0 million.

All of these factors at a time when the Township’s Parks and Recs Dept. is realizing its highest enrollment ever in the aquatics offerings, makes the possible acquirement of the Keystone Aquatics Center something to be explored.
